Multi award-winning singer/songwriter Brandon Reid Allen with his new project and purpose – Boxcar Junkies. Winner of Best Rock Vocalist and Songwriter of the Year at the Los Angeles Music Awards, he also added Breakout Artist of the Year at the American Christian Music Awards, as well as Song of the Year at the Paramount Music Awards not long after. He signed a label deal with distribution and publishing through EMI, creating quite a buzz as an independent musician.
Allen would soon catch the ear of famed rock drummer Troy Luccketta of the multi-platinum selling band Tesla, opening the door to opportunities to share the stage with legends such as The Eagles, Alice Cooper, Aaron Lewis, and many others.
Now, Boxcar Junkies have just finished recording an impressive six-song debut EP with Edgewater Music Group. Spotify has already picked up the buzz. Listen to Brandon’s official interview with Spotify here:
The debut music video has been shot and will be released soon, with Edgewater Digital providing digital marketing support.
Sony Music Entertainment’s group - The Orchard has picked up the band for distribution of the EP, titled “EST. 1973.”
The new sound draws from influences like Mellencamp, Springsteen, Tom Petty, Rob Thomas, and Wilco.
International guitar legend Gary Hoey guested on the record, while Isaias Gil (Black Flag, Macy Gray, David Lee Roth, Jaci Velasquez) played drums on the record. Texas steel guitar extraordinaire Will Van Horn (Lyle Lovett, Robert Ellis) and Houston harmonica legend Sonny Boy Terry added their talents as well.
Derek Hames (National Park Radio, The Drugstore Gypsies, The Buffalo Ruckus) produced the album and performed on guitars, Hammond, mandolin, and percussion while John Shelton of Charlie and The Regrets provided lead guitar in addition to his work as the EP’s recording and mixing engineer.
Boxcar Junkies provides crossover appeal between country, rock, and Americana.
The band is seeking investors that believe in the music, the marketing potential, and the message.
“I’m trying to make right with my past and help some people along the way that have been pinned down by their circumstances. My hope is that I become invisible and that people focus on the message.”
